Making Your Past Choice to Follow Jesus a Present Reality

Engage Your World - Part 1

past

If you’re a follower of Jesus, I want to ask you to take a moment to remember when you first accepted His love and grace. How did it make you feel? How much of a weight was lifted off when He forgave your sins? What was the difference He made in your heart?

Whether you made this decision a long time ago or recently, reflecting what He’s done in your life can benefit those around you.

Being a follower of Jesus truly transforms our hearts, and it’s important to remember that through us, He can transform others. In fact, Jesus instructed His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations” just before He ascended to Heaven (see Matthew 28:19). The best way for us to “go” is to show others what the love of Jesus can do for them.

This past weekend at Alive Church, I spoke about how to show the love of Jesus as part one of our new series, Engage Your World. Part of showing His love is making your past choice to follow Jesus a present reality when engaging your world.

This means having the courage to help others know Jesus, which can be challenging. In our culture, opposition and apathy towards Jesus and His teachings are common. But as followers of Christ, we’re made to stand out because we know His love. And the best way to share His love is to tell how you’ve experienced it.

Now I want you to think of a person close to you who does not know Jesus. How much of a difference would He make in their lives? Consider sharing your story with them.

This week, I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can show Jesus’ love to someone in your life who needs it.

In Christ,

Jeff
