One of my all time favorite books is The Greatest Salesman In The World by Og Mandino. I first discovered the book at the age of 19, I was in college and a friend gave me the book and simply said “I think this is the kind of book you will like”. I devoured it. I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. I read the scrolls in the book that line out the 10 secrets for success in the manner that is described in the scroll marked #1 and it was life changing for me. It set me on a path that led me to a different destination than the one I was previously on.
These principles will help you to not only live out your potential as the masterpiece God created you to be, and help you develop your Life Palette, but will help to transform your thinking. The way you think will either limit or release potential.
10 principles for success:
- Today I begin a new life, today I am born again.
- I will greet this day with love in my heart.
- I will persist until I succeed.
- I am nature’s greatest miracle. (God created me as His masterpiece: Life Palette)
- I will live this day as if it were my last.
- Today I will master my emotions.
- I will laugh at the world.
- Today I will multiply my value a hundred fold.
- I will act now, I will act now, I will act now.
- I will pray for guidance.
The Source
You will find that all of these principles are found in Scripture. Og Mandino didn’t invent them, he wrote them in a masterful format to help us learn, grow and be transformed, but they are the principles of God. He is the one who created you with potential and calls you His masterpiece.

If you read those principles and need a place to begin, begin with #10. God will surely give you the wisdom you need to incorporate the rest of these principles.
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.” (James 1:2-8 NLT)
