“Rushin’ The River” is a 20×16″ oil on canvas that I have been working on for an upcoming contest focusing on western art. I got this picture of this cowboy while on a trip to Wyoming a few years ago with my friend Phil Starke. We were painting in the mountains just west of the town of Dubois. While I my focus has been landscape over the last several years, I am currently working on doing more wildlife and figures, with an emphasis still on western art. I fell in love with the west when I was a teenager on my first trip to Colorado and the History of the Wild West is my favorite time in history. I love the artwork of C.M. Russel, Remington and for wildlife, Carl Runguis. Those guys not only painted the Wild West, they lived in it. While the era of the Wild West is gone, I’m privileged to live and paint in an area that is full of the Wild West history.
