Not Quite Off The Easel: 8×10″ Plein Air

This one got stormed out!

Art, Oil Painting. Plein Air, Artisan Jeff Love, Fine Art

This is an 8×10″ plein air  oil on canvas that I got blocked in just before a thunder storm forced me to quit. I love painting in the Rockies and I have to take the potential sudden storms as a part of it all. So I will have to finish this piece in the studio from the reference photos I took before I started to paint it.

Once it started storming Kathy and I decided to do a little exploring on a mountain road. What happens when a Jeeper at heart starts going up a mountain road in a mini van is not pretty. We got stuck in the mud after nearly sliding off a cliff. I finally got the van turned around but still stuck. Kathy got out and pushed because she said she didn’t want to drive and she didn’t want to stay in the van while it went over the cliff. With her pushing and a little rocking back and forth I got going but couldn’t stop until I got to the top of the hill, Kathy had to hike in the mud. After it was all over we both agreed that it was a fun adventure. More storms rolled in over the mountains so the day of painting was over, and it led to some good discussion about looking to get a new jeep so I can keep painting!
