Living Life As My Best Me

life

Ephesians 2:10 is one of my life verses: “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” It’s one that I have personalized and speak out-loud as a prayer on a regular basis. “I am God’s masterpiece. He has created me anew in Christ Jesus, so I can do the good things He planned for me long ago.” It’s important that my thinking gets in line with God’s thinking about me and my life. Personalizing a verse and speaking it out-loud is one of the ways I’ve learned to do that.

The reason it’s so important is that our thoughts have tremendous power in our lives. The Proverbs writer says this: “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV). Jesus told us that our actions come from our thoughts:
“It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you” (Mark 7:20-23, NLT).

Since I am created as God’s masterpiece I have to wonder at times why my life is not reflecting it. Found in Jesus’ words and the writings of the Proverbs we see that our thoughts control our hearts and our actions. So when my life is not aligning with masterpiece living I need to prayerfully consider my thought life. Ask God to show you where your thinking is not aligning with His. Where are my thoughts limiting me from living as my best self that God created me to be?

Then begin to allow Him to change the way you think. From thoughts that are limiting to thoughts that are liberating. Paul writes about this in Romans 12: 2: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

You see, your best you, your masterpiece life, is good and pleasing and perfect according to God’s will for you. Your part is to allow Him to transform you by allowing Him to change the way you think. Get your thoughts in line with who He says you are as His child.
