Yesterday we began a blog series called 5 D.A.I.L.Y. Habits For Success. We started with D in the acrostic D.A.I.L.Y., Dream daily as a part of working towards making your dream a reality. Today we are going to be talking about the A in daily, meaning Advance daily. Now think back to that dream you thought about yesterday and that you continue to dream today, part of successfully fulfilling your dream is that you advance toward making your dream a reality a little each day. Just remember that you won’t be able to fulfill a dream in just a day. I grew up hearing the well-worn phrase, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” A dream takes time.
The Patients Of A Master
During my younger years, everything was moving toward “instant:” the microwave, fast food, the drive-thru; and the world continues to move at an ever-increasing pace. Still to this day our world has become a fast moving environment where nothing is slow anymore. Our computers have to be fast or else we become frustrated with the agony of waiting. Yet a masterpiece takes time to create. Leonardo da Vinci began working on the Mona Lisa in 1503. History tells us he worked on this masterpiece for four years—and even then didn’t feel it was finished. The painting sat silent and untouched in his studio for another nine years before he began working on it again, laboring for another three years before his death in 1519. He was advancing the piece little by little every day he picked up the brush. Just like Leonardo da Vinci created The Mona Lisa over several years God takes the time to create his masterpiece, you. Not only did he take nine months to “knit you in your mother’s womb” but he planed you long before you ever came along. The dream God has given you will not be fulfilled in a day. You are a masterpiece and the dreams He places within you are masterpiece dreams. The consistency to advance your dream a little each day is vital on your Life Palette to allow God to paint the masterpiece He has in mind.
J.F.K And The Dream To Reach The Moon
Three days before I was born, May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy addressed the Congress of the United States. He said, “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth.” Amazingly, four days after liftoff, Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the surface of the moon. America’s space program didn’t go from President Kennedy’s congressional address in 1961 to the moon in 1969 by just dreaming. The dream laid out by the president was advanced every day in between. A dream without the strategy of advancing daily is a dream destined to be unrealized.
Next Steps to Advance in Your Dream:
Take the time to advance your dream today – one simple step – my staff like to talk about advancing daily toward our dream as moving the ball forward. Ask; “What can I do today to move the ball forward by one step?” Advancing daily is simply getting one step closer to fulfilling your dream – Advance. Make this simple process a part of your daily routine, plan on advancing towards the dream that God has given you daily for as long as it takes, just a little each day. Remember “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Tomorrow in part 3 of D.A.I.L.Y. Habits For Success we will look at the I in daily, and how important it is for you to Initiate and what you should focus on initiating daily for you to successfully live as the masterpiece God created you to be.
