“Big Boys Dueling”, a 16×20″ is an original oil painting on canvas fresh off the easel. I started this piece a few months ago -just finished it up today. I got this reference while siting in the middle of the herd in The Grand Teton National Park. I spent many hours sitting and waiting to get a couple of bulls fighting, but I loved every moment as they surrounded my truck. The American Bison are definitely some of my favorite animals. My first painting of bison was a watercolor in high school which I painted as a gift for one of my first piano teachers. I’ve painted several since and now have hundreds of reference pictures to paint many more in the future. When our family has traveled together to parks with buffalo, my kids get tired of me stopping to take “another picture of a buffalo!”
