To live as the masterpiece God created you to be you must put into practice masterpiece thinking, which is different than most of the people who cross your path every day. One of the reasons I wrote the book Life Palette is that I am passionate about helping you to live as God’s masterpiece and to live the masterpiece life you were created to be. You have to develop masterpiece thinking. Here are four principles that describe masterpiece thinking that you can put into practice today:
Just because culture says something is good or right, a masterpiece thinker maintains independence in their thinking and always goes to God’s Word, the Bible, to get their thoughts in order. Most people tend to believe what the majority think and feel strongly about, but masterpiece thinkers think independently.
Masterpiece thinkers are always thinking outside the box. They believe and know there is always room for improvement or perhaps a better way.
While there are times a decision must be made quickly, masterpiece thinking requires time to process and look at options: to test the merit of the potential decision. Masterpiece thinking is purposeful thinking, without it you may find that you flip-flop quickly based on whoever is able to give you the latest and most convincing argument.
Discipline your mind to think positive at the beginning of everything you do. There may be some negatives to the situation you are dealing with, but make it a habit to start with the positive. The more you do this the more you will discover that you never even get to the negative because you think of ways to navigate without having to. Masterpiece thinkers think positively.
Masterpiece thinking takes time to develop. The more inundated you have been in thinking in the norms of the rest of the world the more time it will take to renew your thinking: “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2 NLT) It will take disciple and work.
Next Steps For Masterpiece Thinking:
Make a decision to put at least 1 of the four masterpiece principles into practice today. If you’re really ready to start thinking like a masterpiece do all 4. Don’t wait. Tell a friend or your spouse what you are doing and ask them to hold you accountable by challenging you when you don’t live out masterpiece thinking.
