You may argue as you consider that your life is God’s masterpiece, that you are not quite yet living up to masterpiece standards.  God wants to raise your life with His love and to His love.  Let me illustrate the power and working of His love to raise you to live as His masterpiece.

Ballard locks

This past summer we spent a week visiting with my wife’s family in the Seattle area where she is from. One of the things we did as a family while there was to visit the Ballard locks, a system to raise and lower the boats going from Puget Sound into and out of Lake Union. As we stood there watching the boats coming into the lake being raised the twenty or so feet up to Lake Union  I couldn’t help but think that it was a picture of God’s love in our lives. His standard of a masterpiece is way above where we live on our own, within our own strength. His love however, has the power to elevate us to the perfect height.

Let Him Raise You Up

In the same way that the Ballard locks raise a boat from the water level of Puget Sound to the higher level of Lake Union, God’s is working through His Spirit to raise your life up to His standard of living as a masterpiece. It’s unfortunate, but many times we see what God says He has for us and wants for us in His Word, the Bible, and we rationalize to bring His Word down to where we are living. Rather than tearing down God’s Word to explain our lives away, ask God to empower you to live at the level of His Word.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.  And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.  May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”   (Eph 3:16-20 NLT)

Begin living on a new level today and by allowing God to empower you from His glorious unlimited resources and to accomplish infinitely more in and through you than you might ask or think.

Next Steps:

As a way to develop your Life Palette, meditate on Eph 3:16-20 throughout the day. Consider areas of your life where you know there is a gap between what God says about you and what you are experiencing. Ask Him to raise you up to the level of living He has for you as His masterpiece.
