GO FOR IT: Live Your Potential

Go For ItYou know you are full of potential and you have a desire to see it realized, to live life as the masterpiece God created you to be. But, there is a tug of war within you that creates a tension; it is between faith and doubt. Do you dare allow yourself to dream and act on those dreams and “GO FOR IT” with a faith that you can live the great life God has for you? Or do you just settle:  no risk, don’t rock the boat, good life?

If you have read my book Life Palette or this blog, you already know what I am going to say; GO FOR IT! My passion and desire is to see you live your potential, leave it all on the field, masterpiece living, be all that God created you to be in life!  Your part is to do what you can do and trust God for what you can’t do.

Today I want to give you a very clear simple strategy that you can implement and GO FOR IT and live your full potential:

  • Ask: “What Are My Excuses?”

You need to be honest with yourself about excuses. Your life as a masterpiece is on the line. Do you think you are not prepared to GO FOR IT when it comes to your dreams? Do you feel like you are not equipped? Maybe you are waiting for a lucky break, or for someone to discover you or for an opportunity to find you? Once you recognize your excuses you must take action. Tell someone who knows and loves you that you have recognized these excuses as weaknesses in yourself and that you want them to help and encourage you to press beyond them. Develop a simple clear strategy that forces you to no longer make excuses. You are a masterpiece – God’s masterpiece – you are not on your own. Your potential is more than you can do on your own, GO FOR IT and allow God to work through you.

  • Act: Do What I Know To Do

To GO FOR IT you need to start with what you know you can do. You have already tapped into a portion of your potential even if it is only a small part. Living out your

potential as God’s masterpiece is a journey, not a destination. You take a journey one step at a time, one mile at a time. It is the old adage that asks “how do you eat an elephant – one bite at a time.”  Take that first step, that one thing you know that you can do.

  • Pray: Lord Give Me The Strength To Leave My Comfort Zone

Most of you are comfortable with the ideal of praying. You may not feel like you understand it very well or that you could be a lot better at it, but you are willing to whisper a prayer. But praying for God to give you the strength to leave your comfort zone – that creates tension, fear, and pause.  There is a great story found in Matthew 14:28 that involved Peter and Jesus. Peter is with the other disciples in a boat during a storm and Jesus is approaching them walking on the water (how cool is that!?).  After recognizing that it was Jesus Peter says this: “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.”   Wow! What a powerful prayer. He basically is saying Lord invite me to get out of my comfort zone and walk on the water with you. Help me to live my potential – Jesus did and Peter did. Go read the story it’s pretty awesome. If you know the story you may be thinking, but Peter failed. Don’t miss the fact that Peter walked on water, the only disciple of Jesus to do so. Way to GO FOR IT Peter!!!

“What if I fail?”  You fail only when you live your life never realizing your potential, never stepping out of the boat, never taking the risk necessary to discover and live life as the masterpiece God created you to be – GO FOR IT!

Put this simple strategy into action right now: Ask, Act and Pray.
