From The Artist

We recently traveled to Glacier National Park as a family and as always the easel goes with us. Finding a perfect spot for me to stop and do a Plein Air painting is normal on our family trips. I painted Glacier Bend in the studio from studies and photo references a few weeks after returning home from our family Glacier trip. This specific spot in the park was way off the beaten path. We had decided to take a trip to the Canadian border and walk across in the wilderness, just to say we did. Along the way we found some of the most stunning scenes of the park. A river and mountain scene always appeals to me, but this one in particular had to be painted knowing that so few people will ever see it in real life.

My Book Life Palette has just gotten back from the typesetters – yeah! I’m very excited to announce i will be releasing my book, Life Palette, sometime in this coming October. I wrote this book to help you reach your potential. Like Life Palette, today, and begin to live life as the masterpiece God created you to be! Here’s what Phil Starke had to say about Life Palette already:

“As an artist, I can appreciate Jeff’s ability to take his knowledge and experience in painting and use it as an analogy with our walk with God. The choices we make as artists impact our work just as the choices we make in life affect our relationship with God. Just like an artist needs to have a good understanding of what makes a good painting and how to apply it to a canvas, we need to have a good understanding of the Gospel and how to apply it to our lives. Jeff does a great job of showing how a sovereign God can create a masterpiece with our lives, if we will humble ourselves and seek His riches instead of our own.”

From Life Palette

Here is a portion of chapter 4 from Life Palette where I mention this painting: ‘The Lord wants you to be like a tree “planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do, they prosper.” (Psalm 1:3) I’m drawn to paint trees by rivers, like in the painting in the center of this book called “Glacier Bend,” painted after a trip to Glacier National Park in Montana. Look at it…and take heart. Your second chance has arrived!”
