In the Bible, we are told that to be saved, we only need to believe in Jesus (see Romans 10:9). Through the simple act of believing, we can also become empowered by Jesus to do amazing things in His name, and that includes sharing His free gift of salvation with others through our words and actions.
Achieving this requires attentiveness on our part – we should be aware of the people in our lives who don’t know Jesus, looking for opportunities to share our story and His love.
To find these opportunities, I recommend following three steps:
- Talk to God about others before talking to others about God– In order to allow the Holy Spirit to show us when, where and how to share our story, we first need to pray for guidance. As James writes, prayer has “great power” (James 5:16).
- Let others know the door is always open for questions – Those who don’t know Jesus will undoubtedly have questions about Him. Welcome their questions, and don’t feel pressured to have all the answers – remember that “I don’t know, but let’s find out together” is a great answer!
- Live your faith authentically with others– Being your real self is the best way to witness to anyone, no matter where you are in your faith journey. Your story will reveal your heart for Jesus (see Proverbs 27:19).
Both living for Jesus and telling others about Him requires us to completely rely on Him. I pray that these steps will help you reach out to at least one person who will benefit by knowing Him and His love.
This weekend, I hope you’ll be able to join me at Alive Church for our new series, Life Hacks, where you’ll learn more helpful ways to live the rich and satisfying life Jesus promises us. Services are Saturday at 5 pm and Sunday at 9:30 am or 11 am.
In fact, last weekend, our Next Steps Pastor, Steve Tanner, demonstrated our first life hack by satisfying his potato chip appetite with a hoodie turned into a potato chip bowl!
Be sure to join us this weekend to see more fun (and Christ-centered) Life Hacks!
In Christ,
Jeff
