Napoleon Hill said, “It’s not what you are going to do, but it’s what you are doing now that counts.” Wrestle with that thought for a moment; what are you doing now? You see, the best way to ensure that you will reach your potential everyday of your life is to grow today! Regardless of your starting point, do not be discouraged, everyone started somewhere to get to where he or she is today.
In Scripture, the apostle Paul wrote: “I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing…” (Philippians 3:13a NLT)
3 Reasons To Start Growing Now:
1. Growing Older Does Not Assure Growth.
It is a mistake to think that just because you have another birthday, you must be growing and maturing. It’s true that you can only be young once, however, you can stay immature your entire life. Getting older does not mean you are growing and maturing. I’ve known many people who are mature in age yet immature in personal growth. Growth is always a process that requires discipline and takes effort. The rewards will far outweigh the energy you invest in growth and the sooner you get started growing, the sooner you will step into living your potential.
2. Growth Is An Investment In Your Future.
Tomorrow will be built on what you do today, just as sure as today is built on what you did yesterday. In other words, your future depends on the growth that you are investing in right now. Oliver Wendell Holmes put it this way: “Man’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.”
3. You Alone Are Responsible For Your Growth.
Every week I stand before hundreds of adults and teach them principles of growth for living and reaching their potential. Regardless of how well the talk is crafted and delivered, I cannot force any of the listeners to grow. Every person alone is responsible for the application that ultimately leads to growth. Unless you make the decision to own your growth, it will not happen.
Get started. Commit yourself to developing your potential today.
